Essay Topics For High School History Curriculum

Essay Topics For High School History CurriculumHistory essay topics are often the same in elementary and high school. The difference comes in the school curriculum or standards that teachers teach. Many states require some form of history standardized test, while others rely more on written research. Either way, students are required to write an essay on some major event or incident. The two most common subject matter for history essay topics include a leader or movement in government or politics. Another popular topic is how a specific action was conducted or used. In this case, the activity is typically violent or civil. For example, 'how did the Civil War start?'A great number of issues come into play when writing a curriculum based assignment, even with the use of a specific event. The history curriculum should be taught with the right guidelines. For example, teachers should not rely only on the standard accounts. Instead, they should consider more than that to best learn and rem ember. So what are great topics to write about? As stated, a leader or movement can be useful. They may not have existed in every high school throughout the United States, but in many other countries in the world, leaders can make history. Consider the examples of Napoleon, Hitler, Kim Jong Il, Castro, Rosa Parks, Fidel Castro, Nelson Mandela, etc.How do you go about researching these things? Ask the school district for resources to help students know about these events. Some teachers do not focus on history and therefore will ask their students to write a history essay on such information as a baseball player's greatest hit, how a plane crash occurred, or the death of someone important.Leaders and movements in politics can include the formation of the Union during the Civil War, the formation of the Greenback Democratic Party, and other instances. Civil War events can include the Emancipation Proclamation, Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, and other civil rights movements. Milita ry events can include Napoleon's defeat, both world wars, and other war-related events. The fact that this information is difficult to learn should not affect how students consider it in the written account. This means the information should be in the essay and in the history textbook, no matter the source. The civil war was long considered a watershed for history. Now it is considered a milestone for humanity. The student may discover that he or she has a better understanding of the civil war and how it was fought than those who lived through it.Writing an essay on history curriculum is a valuable and effective experience for students. Of course, a history textbook, written by the teacher, will be most useful and informative.
